&Tradition are widely know for providing unique furnishings for any interior space with a timeless appeal, including lighting and interior objects. Combining old with the new, they use reference and collaborate with design icons to ensure contemporary craftsmanship, using creativity and shapes, purpose and meaning to provide only the best future classics that made respectfully and more importantly made to last throughout the ages.
Established in 2010, Danish company &Tradition work closely with acclaimed designers to create mid-century inspired and contemporary design furniture, lighting and interior accessories.
Combining their vision to create a more ‘conscious, comfortable and beautiful world’, with their passionate approach to design, &Tradition’s portfolio showcases the best in modern industrial processes and traditional techniques.
Many of &Tradition’s products were once only available to a small number of customers, including the Little Petra chair by Danish architect Viggo Boesen’s, and the Mayor sofa designed by Arne Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen. For the first time ever, &Tradition are able to produce such ranges on a larger scale from original design sketches.
&Tradition Designs
Amongst &Tradition’s collections designed by today’s most acclaimed international artists, are furniture and lighting fixtures from Spanish artist and designer, Jaime Hayon, Swedish-raised designer Sami Kallio and Oslo-based Anderssen & Voll.
&Tradition’s portfolio explores and encapsulates the need for comfort, function, and beauty. Their entire design process is carried out with a great deal of focus on everything from the source of materials and chemicals used, to packaging the end product.
The company’s collection is designed with sustainability in mind so that pieces can be passed down through generations and endure the test of time.
‘Built to last’ is the mantra that motivates and informs &Tradition decisions and the company aim to create pieces that focusing on quality over quantity.
To achieve their recently set goal of moving towards a more socially responsible and sustainable use of materials in their range, &Tradition now work to source sustainable leathers and sheepskins, they use Responsible Down Standard (RDS) feathers, eliminate toxic chemicals from their ranges, and recycle where possible.
In addition to this, the company have been working to improve their use of sustainably sourced FSC® certified wood, EU Ecolabel products and Oeko-Tex® certified materials.
Since 2021 &Tradition have certified their first products according to EU Ecolabel, they have expanded their list of FSC® certified products and they have introduced the use of water lacquer on a range of products to minimize the potential emissions of VOC.
Amongst &Tradition’s range of EU Ecolable certified products is the popular Rely chair range which embodies minimalism and practicality and is available in several contemporary colours, materials and bases, and the In Between chair range which displays traditional wood working techniques and an eco-conscious approach.
