Designed in 1967 and going on to win the American Industrial Award for its comfortable design in 1968, the Pastil Chair has an elegant curved form that creates a unique lounge seat.
Inspired by a sweet, Eero Aarnio made the first prototype of the Pastil Chair out of polystyrene, helping him to verify the measurements, visual design and rocking ability. The ergonomic shape enables the body to completely mould to the seat, with the New York Times stating that the chair is 'one of the most comfortable forms to hold up the human body.'
