The Fritz Hansen Egg Lounge Chair, designed in 1958 by Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen, is a landmark of iconic modern furniture design.
Jacobsen originally designed the chair for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, wanting to create a piece that contrasted with the rigid modernist outside exterior of the hotel - prompting the creation of a design that is defined by soft and organic curved lines. The stunningly sculptural shape creates an atmosphere of retreat, refuge and exceptional comfort, ideal for public spaces as well as in the home; adding emphasis to the importance of relaxation and personal privacy. The Egg caters to individual sitting needs by having an adjustable tilt mechanism and is a timeless piece that has been carefully constructed to last generations.
